Description
Summary:This study aims to explore to what extent the items making up a mission statement are used by companies operating within the same and different sectors. For this purpose, content analysis has been conducted for mission statements of the companies traded in Istanbul Stock Exchange. Content analysis has used nine items (costumers, product, market, technology, survival, philosophy, self-concept, public image, and employees) that need to be used in mission statements according to literature. The findings indicate that the use of the nine items in the mission statements are not similar for companies both within the same and different sectors. In light of these findings, some evaluations and suggestions are made for future research. Reprinted by permission of the Eskisehir Osmangazi University
