| Summary: | Background: Nursing students must be prepared to care for patients in community settings; however, limited evidence exists on community health nursing simulations with a standardized patient (SP). Method: Focus group interviews were used to explore baccalaureate nursing students? experiences with engaging an SP in a community health simulation. Results: Four themes were identified. Students valued the safe environment to practice and prepare for community clinical experiences. Environmental props and the SP provided realistic experiential learning. Conclusion: Further research is needed; however, faculty may consider community health simulations with an SP to prepare nursing students for clinical experiences in community settings. References |
