Summary: | Starting from labdanolic acid, extracted from Cistus ladaniferus plant, the first synthesis of the natural product 3I2-hydroxy-labd-8(17)-en-15-oic acid was achieved, via microbial transformation mediated by Penicillium janczewskii followed by dehydration. The structure of a new labdane diterpene, namely 3I2-hydroxy-labdanolic acid, was elucidated by X-ray crystallography and spectroscopic data. |
