Summary: | The use of quantitative super(1)H NMR to analyze technical octabrominated diphenylether DE-79 super( registered ) and UV spectra of its components and photolytic transformation products, was analyzed. The photolysis of DE-79 super( registered ) was carried out with a Xenon (Xe) lamp and filtered by different Duran glass cylinders. NMR spectroscopy quantified compounds against a freely selectable standard. The percentage of deuteration of solvent was examined using a concentration of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene and provided a CHCl sub(3) content of 6.55 mM, in agreement with the specified value of 99.96 percent deuteration. The results showed that polybrominated dibenzofurans could be identified as byproducts from their UV spectra. It was also observed that the debromination rate was constant during quantitative analysis. |
