Description
Summary:Business management aims to improve the performance of its Supply Chain by developing strategies to make the logistic channel more efficient and productive. It was under this context that emerged the main motivation for the present work: "Balanced Scorecard and Demand Standards."This work comprises two distinct, although interelated, parts: the development of a management methodology, based on the balance between “Learning and Growing”, “Internal Processes”, “Clients” and “Financial” Perspectives for the department - Departmental Balanced Scorecard, and the definition of standards able to minimize the impact of demand variability, and through this, improve production performance, level of service and level of stock - Demand Standards. On the Departmental Balanced Scorecard part, a study of the departmental functioning and an analysis of associated strategic objectives were carried out on the initial steps. The information obtained was gathered in a single informatic aplication (Excel format) including pannels for submission, query and modification for strategic initiatives. Through this project resulted a Supply Chain Balanced Scorecard. On Demand Standards project, a detailed analysis was carried out for each production line in order to estimate the average value of stock for each line, for product formats and for the diferent components. From this analysis resulted a perception of the best values for each line which allows the scheduling of interventional actions and the selection of a pilot line. This analysys was complemented with a selection of statistical models to apply on demand forecasting that may be useful to determine the reserve capacity of the lines and to optimize the production process, level of stock and service level. The results obtained provide information that can be used by the Supply Chain Department to improve its efficiency and to reduce departmental costs.
