Summary:This project report discusses vocal injuries and recovery techniques for various types of vocal injury. Four topics are discussed: (1) An introduction to voice therapy, including a background of the vocal anatomy. (2) An overview of a specific vocal problem: acid reflux. This information is drawn from the literature, and from the author's experience in treating vocal problems. (3) A description of techniques used to solve reflux-related problems. (4) Techniques for maintaining vocal health. This discussion presents a cross-disciplinary approach to solving vocal problems. An important aspect of this discussion describes how voice professionals can interact with medical professionals to heal a damaged voice. Case histories add an important element of reality to the discussion. The author's descriptions of real solutions to real problems provide guidance on structuring new solutions to new problems.
