Is performance on the Motor Free Visual Perception Test associated with motor vehicle crash involvement?
The risk factors for motor vehicle crashes (MVC) have multiple causes, but ongoing research has identified psychometric tests that can help identify high risk older drivers (Ball et al., 2006). This study used a 2 (age of participant, Old vs. Young) x 2 (no MVC vs. one or more MVC) between subjects...

Summary: | The risk factors for motor vehicle crashes (MVC) have multiple causes, but ongoing research has identified psychometric tests that can help identify high risk older drivers (Ball et al., 2006). This study used a 2 (age of participant, Old vs. Young) x 2 (no MVC vs. one or more MVC) between subjects design to evaluate whether the Motor Free Visual Perception Test (MVPT) is associated with MVC involvement. The hypothesis that senior drivers with a history of MVC involvement would perform more poorly on the MVPT than drivers without such a history was not supported. It was also hypothesized that younger drivers with a history of MVC involvement would perform the same on the MVPT as their peers who do not have a history of MVC involvement, which was supported. |
