Summary: | The solo songs make up a significant portion of Jean Sibelius’ total musical output. These pieces are not as well known as his orchestral works, however, and have received less attention in the scholarly literature. This reveals important features of Sibelius’ style which appear most forcefully in his vocal writing, features which contribute to the larger narrative of Sibelius as a composer and our understanding of his musical style. |
