Summary:Integrated prenatal and substance use disorder treatment is associated with mothers maintaining legal custody at birth. Use of nonprescribed/ illicit opioids and/or stimulants during the third trimester reduces the likelihood of maintaining legal custody. Better collaboration between the health and social services agencies would potentially reduce costs and improve outcomes for pregnant women with opioid use disorder.
