Description
Summary:In the 1930s Krebs had discovered the role of the ornithine cycle in the formation of urea, and the citric acid cycle in cellular respiration. In 1985, as part, he said, of the background to Krebs's discovery of the citric acid cycle, he published an examination of Antoine Lavoisier's work on animal respiration; like many digressions intended to be minor, it had grown into a book of 565 pages, Lavoisier and the Chemistry of Life, and became a significant contribution to Lavoisier studies. During the final year of his life he completed a book to be entitled "Investigative Pathways: Patterns and Stages in the Careers of Experimental Scientists"; Yale University Press expects to publish it in 2004.
