Summary:Ruano discusses the rejection of the works of Abu Hamid al-Ghazali by contemporary scholars. From the refutations known, on can infer that Maliki fuqaha reproached Ghazali for having endorsed interpretations with respect to the conception of God and to Muhammad's prophethood that he had previously imputed to the philosophers and the batinis, and condemned. The rejection of Ghazali's books in al-Andalus was thus motivated by reasons far more complex than his having sharply criticized the fuqaha' in his Ihya'.
