Summary: | A research theme considered 'off-limits', evoking racism arouses reactions in the field that testify to the breaking of a taboo. This feature is coupled, in Corsica, with a specific excitability connected to accusations of racism levied by a number of institutional and political actors in the 2000s. How should investigation be conducted in such a context ? This article aims to clarify the epistemological and methodological implications of research in a sensitive area. After highlighting the methodological choices made before and during fieldwork by emphasizing the inductive nature of the approach and its implications, the article suggests the way these choices led to focusing particularly on "respectable racism", as characterized by Rachad Antonius (2002 : 253). |
