Preliminary analysis of survey data from 2013 showed substantially higher prevalence of major depressive episode (MDE), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), and alcohol use disorders in Regular Force personnel than in the CGP.12 Understanding the health effects of military service through comparisons of military and general populations requires truly comparable nonmilitary samples.
