Summary:	This article analyzes the ways of being, feeling and thinking paternity and motherhood within the framework of the dominant patriarchal culture in the Colombian coee region and the construction of discourse rooted in the Catholic religion that guides interactions in everyday life. The reection is accompanied by voices that emerge in this socio-cultural environment, demanding autonomy and possibilities to exercise responsible paternity and maternity, within the perspective of understanding the social process, exploring the desire to play this role and tracking the reasons for not incorporating paternity and maternity in their lives.
