Description
Summary:The objective of this article is to show that it is possible to build an artifact in design science with the purpose to formulate alternative of business's competitive strategy. Therefore, it was necessary to identify a theoretical framework from which we could generate a proper procedure to create artifacts for this purpose, that is, such a procedure may be implemented by means of computational algorithms and has some degree of universality. The search to identify this theoretical framework was performed by exploratory and interpretive literature research about the main currents of the theory of competitive strategy, which resulted in a comparative study on the subject. This procedure was applied in an electrical conductors industry, market leader in your field, using the case study methodology. Although it is not the purpose of this article to design the artifact, it is shown how to do it. The strategy formulation is a complex problem, even for companies that are qualified for this task. Thus, it is believed that the application of the design science on that question can assist this task. The study reported is characterized by innovation in organizational systems and the main contribution of this paper is to identify a procedure capable of generating the artifact, which seemed to work well, and the presentation of its architecture.
