Interferon and other proinflamatory cytokine responsesin vitrofollowing infection with wild-type and cold-adapted reassortant influenza viruses
To better understand the relationship between attenuation and induction of innate immunity as well as contribution of the proinflammatory cytokine response to the relative immunogenicity of live attenuated influenza vaccines, we have studied cytokine response in human cells of epithelial and macroph...

Summary: | To better understand the relationship between attenuation and induction of innate immunity as well as contribution of the proinflammatory cytokine response to the relative immunogenicity of live attenuated influenza vaccines, we have studied cytokine response in human cells of epithelial and macrophage origin in response to infection with single gene reassortants between A/Leningrad/134/17/57 (H2H2) cold-adapted master donor strain and epidemic wild-type (wt) A/Leningrad/134/57 (H2N2) influenza virus. Cells Production of proinflammatory cytokines were studied in THP-1 human macrophage (ATCC #TIB-202) and A549 human lung carcinoma (epithelial) (ATCC #CCL-185) cell lines. |
