Description
Summary:This article aims to study the space occupied by Brazilian music on formal education in the period before the emergence of "Leis de Diretrizes e Bases da Educação Nacional (LDB), based on the analysis of official educational laws, published between the years 1854 and 1961. According to the documentary research, it was possible to take notes about omissions and mistakes in scientific works related to Brazilian music education at that time, specially the mandatory teaching of orpheonic singing education for all school levels from 1934 and the analysis of Decree No 51.215/61, which regulated the musical education in schools at that time.
