Summary: | This article departs from the format usually preferred in TEQ. The authors, who are not teacher educators, used the first person in order to highlight their learning experiences in conducting a summer institute for elementary school teachers. Both they and the Editor felt that changing the paper into the third person would detract from the presentation of what is essentially a personal perspective. But this is more than just a first person account. The authors go beyond merely describing what happened during the institute and thoughtfully analyze their experiences in order to provide insight into the theory and practice of teacher education. The authors are faculty in the College of Education at the University of Cincinnati. |
