Description
Summary:The die casting consists of the injection of a liquid metal into a mold cavity, submitting the mechanism to high pressures and subsequent cooling until its solidification. Understanding the operation of injection molding machines, as well as the factors that influence the good process development of these machines, it is important for the mechanical engineering area, in general. Thus, the purpose of this work was to evaluate the closing unit design of a mini-injection moulding machine, using CAD (computer-aided design) and CAE (computer-aided engineering) tools. Through an experimental research, it was possible to observe the behavior of the project, in terms of motion and static analysis. The results have shown an efficient project, regarding the modeling and analysis of movements, however, the tension static analysis points to needed improvements in the model, such as resizing of the articulation bars, in which the tensions were overloaded.
