Description
Summary:This paper aims to identify and analyze aspects of teacher education contemplated in the development of an Interdisciplinary Rationality Island (IRI) in a degree course in Chemistry. The IRI is a methodological proposal that contributes to the process of Scientific and Technological Literacy of the participants and develops from a problem situation. In the case considered in the analysis, the problem situation involved the use of homemade cleaning mixes. Field notes of the researcher teacher, the final product and the textual production of the undergraduates were submitted to a Discursive Textual Analysis. It was found that aspects related to epistemology, the history of science and the technological thinking needed to be deepened in the discussions during the IRI. The experience provided the undergraduates with reflections on the construction of knowledge and the possibilities of using the methodology in the classroom in order to promote a chemical education more committed to the citizen formation.
