Summary:In this research, we analysed the activities proposed for learning probability in the textbooks of seventh and eighth grade of Basic Education in Chile of two editions (public and private), comparing and categorising them according to their meaning, cognitive demand and context. The qualitative methodology was based on content analysis. The results show the predominance of the classical meaning of probability, procedural tasks with connection and activities without context. En esta investigación se analizaron las actividades propuestas para el aprendizaje de la probabilidad en los libros de texto de séptimo y octavo de Educación Básica en Chile de dos ediciones (pública y privada), comparando y categorizándolas según su significado, demanda cognitiva y contexto. La metodología, de tipo cualitativa, se basó en el análisis de contenido. Los resultados muestran el predominio del significado clásico de la probabilidad, de las tareas de procedimiento con conexión y de las actividades sin contexto.
