Description
Summary:A large field-widened interferometer with NaCl optics is described for use on weak extended sources; in this regard, a new extended emission source for the spectroscopic study of gases is discussed using Argon as an example. Six predicted lines, previously unobserved, are reported and many other unpredicted lines are observed. Since the computer time to reduce interferometric spectra can be excessive, the gain to be realized by using simple heterodyning techniques is demonstrated. A technique for using the analytic property of an interferogram to increase the resolution is also pointed out.
