Blue Phosphor in the System ZnO‐Ga 2 O 3 ‐Li 2 O for FED

Cathodoluminescence of the blue phosphor based on Li‐substituted ZnGa 2 O 4 has been studied. The luminance, efficiency, and spectrum of CL at excitation energies 100–600 eV were measured. A blue (Li 0.5 Ga 0.5 ) 0.5 Zn 0.5 Ga 2 O 4 phosphor was synthesized. Replacement of half zinc atoms by lithium...

Description
Summary:Cathodoluminescence of the blue phosphor based on Li‐substituted ZnGa 2 O 4 has been studied. The luminance, efficiency, and spectrum of CL at excitation energies 100–600 eV were measured. A blue (Li 0.5 Ga 0.5 ) 0.5 Zn 0.5 Ga 2 O 4 phosphor was synthesized. Replacement of half zinc atoms by lithium and gallium atoms leads to an increase in CL efficiency up to 0.2 lm/W. Although them intrinsic luminous efficiency of the blue phosphors in the system ZnO−Ga 2 O 3 −Li 2 O was found to much lower than ZnS:Ag,Cl, the higher resistance to saturation of the oxide phosphor demonstrated that it may be desirable to use this phosphors for low voltage VFDs and FEDs operating at high current densities. The blue gallates are also more attractive for FEDs since its oxide‐based matrix should result in improved life time properties.
