Summary:Environmental dimension is one of the vital pillars of sustainable development. Bearing this in mind, there is a need in some countries for managerial information which would be in the function of creating an environmental policy, as well as the adoption, implementation and control of a sustainable development strategy. For this purpose, the methodology of Environmental Performance Index - EPI has been developed. From the perspective of this methodology, the paper analyzes the situation in the area of environmental protection in the South-eastern European countries. In addition, the aim of this paper is to determine the direction and degree of correlation between aggregate indicator EPI and its partial indicators in the observed group of countries. This framework of analysis has an important advantage, because it can indicate the strengths and weaknesses of certain countries in different areas of environmental policy.
