Description
Summary:Summary form only given. Diffraction of the electromagnetic radiation related with the periodically distributed imaginary refractive index was analyzed. It was shown that because the gyroelastic effect is caused by the change of circular birefringence, acoustogyration diffraction must consist of the exchange of energy between two circular optic waves. It makes it possible to consider the case of pure acoustogyration diffraction, that is when acoustooptic diffraction does not take place. It was found that the proper technique to separate acoustogyration and acoustooptic diffraction of circular waves in a gyrotropic crystal is when both electromagnetic and acoustic waves propagate along the optical axis. The dependence of acoustogyration on acoustic power for quartz crystals was obtained. It was shown that synchronism requirements for both left and right quartz are in agreement with the experimental data.
