Summary: | A new law now governs the process of satisfying mortgages in Pennsylvania. The legislation, known as the Mortgage Satisfaction Act, will have a significant impact on lenders with mortgage portfolios; mortgage servicers; title companies and other providers of real estate settlement services; and county recorders of deeds. The legislation came about originally because title companies wanted to have a way to satisfy mortgages that had been paid in full in cases where the lender either could not be located or for some reason would not satisfy a paid mortgage. A summary of the important provisions of the law is presented. |
