Summary:An epidemic outbreak of viral meningitis mainly caused by Coxsackie B3 virus is described. Characteristic of the outbreak was the involvment of a large number of infants under 1 year of age (about 1/4 of the total number of cases) and the elevated incidence of encephalitis symptoms, as compared with the meningitis outbreak caused by echovirus 4 in 1973.
