Summary:	Upper gastrointestinal symptoms are often found in patients with chronic constipation. We report a case of a child with severe chronic constipation due to idiopathic megacolon with megarectum, in which small-bowel motor abnormalities, demonstrated before treatment, were corrected by therapy. Possible pathophysiological mechanisms are discussed.
