Description
Summary:Some types of data useful in the study and assessment of a chemical's environmental fate and toxicity are physical and chemical properties, degradation tests, monitoring data, field studies, toxicology and carcinogenesis studies, and regulatory information. Syracuse Research Corporation produces and maintains several databases relating to this field, including the Environmental Fate Database (EFDB), PHYSPROP (physical properties database), TSCATS (test submissions under the Toxic Substances and Control Act), SOLVDB (solvents database), SMILECAS (Simplified Molecular Input Line Entry System notations database), Chemical Pointers (pointers to databases and regulatory lists), and Global Warming Potentials. This article describes the structure, content, characteristics and development of the databases.
