Description
Summary:Atherosclerosis and osteoporosis are degenerative chronic diseases with a high incidence in developed countries. They are silent processes with a great economic cost that becomes evident when complications become overt. Numerous epidemiological studies show an independent association between the two diseases that is not related to age or other cardiovascular risk factors. This review analyzes the clinical studies that support this association and describes the possible common etiopathogenic and physiopathological mechanisms.
