Summary: | Criticism of social prejudice is usually aimed at dismissing the latter as not only morally inadequate but also irrational. However, neither does the charge of overgeneralization suffice to prove wrong the criticized views nor does their genetic explanation. At any rate, not every downward comparison is necessarily a prejudice. One particular source of error concerning prejudices lies in inconsistencies connected with evaluating comparisons between social groups.
