Summary:Up to the present the Twelfth Benediction (better known as the Birkat ha-Minim) of the Jewish statutory prayer has figured prominently in discussions of the separation of church and synagogue and the development of Jewish Christianity. The aim of this paper is to provide a short overview of the present state of research concerning the role and function, if any, of the Birkat ha-Minim in the period between the destruction of the temple and the Bar Kochba revolt.
