Description
Summary:The power structure of a household is an important indicator of the system of spousal decision-making. Research showsthat husbands generally not only have a higher degree of decision-making butalso in important spheres of this decisionmaking. How do wives elevate their role in this power structure? This study looks at the role of resources in influencing the spousal power in a marriage, specifically the resources owned by the Sikh wives. Here the comparative resources between spouses are evaluated to see their impact on the power structure of the household. Resources such as education, occupation and income are examined to see if these can give wives a higher status in their marriage and in what aspects do they change the household power dimension.
