Description
Summary:We studied the clinical efficacy of cefozopran (CZOP), a newly developed injectable cephalosporin with a broad antibacterial spectrum, in surgical infections. The clinical efficacy was determined in 8 cases: cholangitis (1), localized peritonitis (2), subdiaphragmatic abscess (1), intraabdominal infection (1) and postoperative wound infection (3). CZOP was administered by intravenous drip infusion at a dose of 0.5-1 g twice daily for 3-11 days. The clinical efficacy was good in 4 patients, fair in 2 and poor in 2, showing an overall efficacy rate of 4/8. No adverse drug reactions or abnormal laboratory changes were observed.
