Description
Summary:ME 1207, a new oral cephem antibiotic, was administered to 29 patients with espiratory infections (pharyngolaryngitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, chronic bronchitis and bronchiectasis in the phase of acute exacerbation) to determine its efficacy and safety profile. Based on the clinical response, results of examinations and X-ray findings, the drug efficacy was evaluated as “excellent” in 4 patients, “good” in 16, “ fair”in 6 and “poor” in 3, the effectiveness rate being 69%. Neither serious adverse drug reactions nor abnormal laboratory data were observed. The results of this clinical study suggest that ME 1207 is useful in the treatment of respiratory infections.
