Summary:A new species of Myosotis ser. Palustres Popov, Myosotis michaelae, related to the M. nemorosa group, is described from France. Further localities from Switzerland, Romania and Bulgaria are listed. Diploid chromosome number (2n = 22) is given for the new species, and notes on its distribution, ecology and taxonomic relationships are presented. The lectotype is chosen and designated for the name Myosotis palustris L. var. scabra Simonk.
