Description
Summary:In this paper, a study on transformer oil deposits has been carried out by infrared analysis and ferrographic inspection. The results showed that the location at which deposits accumulate has a great influence on their constituents. Deposits have higher water content, total acidity and ash content than the corresponding transformer oils. The functional groups of deposits are compared with those of transformer oils. Ferrographic inspection indicated that deposits contain metallic particles, dust, solid and paper insulation degradation compounds. The size of solid particles in deposits has been determined.
