Summary: | This paper concerns with a procedure of transmit beamforming with finite impulse response filters for frequency-selective channels and simple linear equalization at the generalized receiver constructed in accordance with the generalized approach to signal processing in noise. Since a closed-form solution for the optimum finite impulse response beamforming filters does not seem to exist, we employ a known efficient numerical method for recursive calculation. Our numerical results and simulation show that for typical Global System for Mobile Communications/Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution (GSM/ EDGE) channels the generalized receiver outperforms by performance the optimum infinite impulse response beamforming filters at the known receiver and can closely approach the performance of the infinite impulse response beamforming filters at the generalized receiver and yield significant gains over single antenna transmission. |
