Self-trapping and self-frequency shift of solitons in photonic crystal fiber

We demonstrate experimentally for the first time the self-trapping of solitons in highly nonlinear photonic crystal fiber. The trapping occurs at a particular power and is driven by fission of high-order solitons and their self-frequency shift.
