Summary:This paper shows the results of the SOS poles web characterization for the Vía Ruta del Sol Sector 3 (Colombia) project, in charge of the company Yuma concessionaire; the design of a preliminary architecture is defined through the implementation of electronics based on UMTS modems, for the communication of different way points with the Communications Control Center of the road concession. Positive results in telecommunications matter were obtained about the primary necessity of the concession to offer to the road users an emergency communication channel, proposing an architecture oriented to the use of compatible UMTS modems, based on low cost and intake, with a main cellular gateway located on the Yuma concessionaire Operation Control Center (CCO); this will allow the communication with the shift operators and the prompt attention to the reported emergencies in the road.
