Description
Summary:Pistons with altered form of the piston skirt contact area are presented in this paper. The efficiency of the new design has been evaluated by comparing the mechanical losses in the engines under equal operating conditions with conventional pistons and those with a special form of the contact surface. The use of such pistons does not change the degree of liquid friction. There is a significant change in the forces of dry friction at rest which is the reason for the friction power reduction and the mechanical losses of the pistons with a special form of the contact surface.
