Summary: | This paper presents a new global maximum power point tracking (GMPPT) scheme for solar PV system. The presented scheme is based on the swarm intelligence operated optimization known as Spider Monkey optimization (SMO). The paper starts with a broad overview of various techniques of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) which are applied to the photovoltaic (PV) system. All the techniques have their own advantages and disadvantages. Many extensive researches have been done in this arena and many new techniques have been developed in recent years. Researches are still going in the area to get the method that would have the maximum efficiency and all the benefits of various techniques combined. Here, we discussed a few of them. In this paper, we have reviewed, analyzed and compared the various techniques. Moreover, the paper presents the working of SMO-GMPPT, its flow, the Simulink model description and the results obtained. The results show that SMO-GMPPT is capable of tracking the true global peak during partial shading phenomena, it is fast and true GMPPT method. |
