Summary:We present the luminescence radiative lifetime data of Yb 3+ in Yb- doped yttrium scandium aluminum garnet (Yb:YSAG) ceramics at room temperature (300 K). The results show that the Yb 3+ lifetime changes significantly with content of Sc 3+ ion in Yb:YSAG and depends on the crystallography position occupied by Sc 3+ . The ceramics with the highest Sc 3+ content in octahedral position has longer luminescence radiative lifetimes.
