Summary: | This paper presents a three-phase switched capacitor converter to drive power light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The proposed converter does not utilize electrolytic capacitors, providing a high useful lifetime. In addition, the converter does not have diode bridge input rectifier, which can increase the converter efficiency. Moreover, it can stabilize the output current in open loop control, without needing current sensors, which reduces the project cost. A 54 W prototype was implemented to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed converter. Experimental results are presented and discussed. The prototype presented a power factor of 0.98 and an efficiency of 79 %. |
