Energy Community Luče

Process of establishing first Energy Community in Slovenia is represented in the article. Energy community will be established as a part of COMPILE project (COMPILE is cofounded by EU as part of H2020 program). Town Luče was selected as the pilot site. Members of the energy community are all connected to the transformer station Luče-Urtelj. Energy Community Luče will be completely powered from RES. To achieve the set goals additional RES (photovoltaic) and battery storage units will be installed on/in houses of members of the energy community additionally community battery will also be installed. Battery storage units in combination with comprehensive energy management will be the key elements to achieve real self-sufficiency of the energy community. Implemented measures will also demonstrate alternative ways how to provide a higher level of reliability of supply and enable additional RES penetration in weak distribution grid without classic measures for grid reinforcement - no extra overhead lines or underground cables will be implemented. Possible uses of energy community flexibility and benefits for different stakeholders (members of the energy community, DSO, TSO and aggregators) are also discussed in the article.
