On the Design and Calibration of a 5G Millimeter-Wave Dual-Polarized Active Phased Array

Phased array antennas enable beamforming, partly overcoming the increase in path loss associated with the 5G mm-wave band. In this paper, the design and calibration of a 5G mm-wave dual-polarized active phased array is presented. A procedure to shape the array's radiation pattern is shown and i...

Description
Summary:Phased array antennas enable beamforming, partly overcoming the increase in path loss associated with the 5G mm-wave band. In this paper, the design and calibration of a 5G mm-wave dual-polarized active phased array is presented. A procedure to shape the array's radiation pattern is shown and is verified by measurement results. Moreover, a phase calibration is performed and an increase in gain on the order of 2 dB was measured.
