Summary: | This paper presents a comparative experimental study of Perturb and observe (P&O) and Incremental conductance (Inc) MPPT algorithm for an autonomous photovoltaic (PV) system. The steady-state and transient behavior of both the techniques are analyzed thoroughly. A laboratory setup for the stand-alone PV system is developed using a boost converter and the MPPT algorithm is implemented in a 10-bit Arduino mega 2560 micro-controller. The functionality of both the algorithms is observed at different irradiance and duty cycle perturbation which confirms that the performance of Inc algorithm is better than P&O method. |
