Description
Summary:Data management is extremely important in formation of smart grid and several lossy and lossless compression approach are available for compressing various parameters associated with grid. DBEA is a novel differential coding based approach for compressing slow varying, repetitive data arrays. The computational burden of DBEA is low and the compression ratio obtained by the algorithm is comparable to other available algorithms. Power system parameter monitoring data is generally does not vary over a wide range and is repetitive in nature during stable condition of grid and thus DBEA can be useful for compressing this bulk volume of information. This paper focuses on the security of the compressed information by introducing RSA algorithm in cascade with DBEA. Testing of proposed scheme is done in MATLAB environment where RSA algorithm is used to encrypt the encoded data by suitable key (public or private) at the encoding end. At the decoding end, another key (private orpublic) will decrypt the information before implementing DBEA to decode the actual array. The system was tested initially with few sample data array. The work is then extended with parameter monitoring data collected hourly for an entire day to indicate the effectiveness of the system.
