Summary: | In this paper we propose an integrated bandwidth management and call admission control scheme applicable in wireless networks that support multiple services with different QoS requirements. The proposed scheme is achieved via i) the integration of a position-assisted and mobility-based predictive advanced bandwidth reservation mechanism that facilitates the seamless operation of the handoff process and ii) a bandwidth reconfiguration based call admission control strategy that supports flexible QoS management. The comparison of the achievable performance of our proposed scheme with the corresponding results of conventional systems demonstrate that our integrated strategy can alleviate the problem of over-reservation, support seamless operation throughout the wireless network and increase significantly the system resource utilization. |
