Description
Summary:The paper presents the design of a lighting system for 2-wheel vehicles based on LEDs (light emitting diodes). A light management system is proposed to control an array of 7 LED drivers through an 8-bit processor. Each driver integrates a switching DC/DC converter to modulate the light intensity of a string of LEDs and to regulate the power supply provided by a 5 V 10 Ah power bank based on Li-ion cells. Each LED string is fabricated on a flexible substrate to allow the integration of the lighting system in the chassis of the vehicle. The resulting flexible LED strings can easily be adapted to the vehicle design and shape. The system has experimentally been tested on a high-end electric-bike with a composite frame.
